Halloween is impossible to separate the Druids because they originated this "party". For hundreds of years before Christ, the Celts lived in what is now France, Germany, England, Scotland and Ireland. Celtic priests were called Druids. This town was conquered by the Romans after. Information about the Celts and Druids comes from Caesar and Roman historians, Greek writings dating from about 200 BC, and ancient records found in Ireland. The Greek and Roman writings about the Druids described extensively his frequent barbaric human sacrifices. The ancient Irish texts say little about human sacrifices, but explain in detail the Druids made use of magic to cause storms, curse places, kill by magical spells and create obstacles. Human Sacrifice Davies, however, a sixteenth-century writer who studied and found his family lineage going back directly to the Druid priests who fought against Caesar, clearly describes the human sacrifices that made their ancestors and secret sacrifices still carried out regularly Druids of his time. For the year 47 AD, Rome finally defeated the Druids in England and forbade human sacrifice. The few remaining Druids went into hiding. Currently, a growing group of people who claim to be descendants of the Druids, still practice their religion, including human sacrifice. Those living in England still hold ceremonies at Stonehenge. On November 1st was the Celtic New Year The Druids celebrated on October 31 with human sacrifices and a festival honoring their sun god and Samhain, the lord of the dead. They believed that the sinful souls of those who had died during the year were in a place of torment, and would be released only if Samhain pleased with their sacrifices.
Fascinated by the Druids Monks Irish records tell of the fascination the Catholic monks of the powerful Druids, who soon became important members of their monasteries. Pope Gregory the Great decided to incorporate the holiday of the Druids to the church. He proclaimed: "They no longer have to sacrifice animals in honor of the devil, but can kill them in order to obtain food for the glory of God, and thank the Giver of all gifts for their supply." Pope Gregory III moved the church festival of October 31st to November 1st and called it All Saints Day. Pope Gregory IV decreed that the day was observed by the universal church. The term Halloween comes from All Hallows Eve (eve of All Saints). The founders of the United States is not allowed to be held that day because they knew it was a pagan holiday. It was around 1900 when Halloween became more widely held in the United States. In the 1840's, a terrible shortage of potatoes in Ireland caused the arrival of thousands of Irish Catholics in America. They brought the practice with them. The modern custom of going door to door asking for food and sweets back to the time of the Druids. They believed that as sinful and lost souls awaiting trial, Samhain releases into the earth for one night, Oct. 31. It was believed that these souls came together at the homes of people who waited with a banquet on the table. People feared these spirits and thought that could hurt and even kill them if they offered sacrifices to appease Samhain not. To keep the spirits away from the houses, people carved demonic faces into pumpkins and turnips great, and put candles inside. The tradition of apple picking with her mouth and give nuts was a Roman addition to the New Year's Eve the Druids. The Romans worshiped Pomona, the goddess of the harvest. Therefore, combined the celebration of Halloween with its harvest festival honoring Pomona. Not found much archaeological evidence of the Druids, but the Roman documents are consistent with Irish documents. Both declare that knowledge of the Druids was never written, but it passed through generations as verbal instruction. This was done to protect their secrets. In his writings, Davies says he received much criticism from his family for having written the information he had about the Druids. The same is true today. Nothing gets written. The Druids kept secret many of the same traditions. It is no accident that in the United States some razor put, drugs, poisons, needles, etc.. in giving sweets to children. The testimony of several former Satanists have shown that children injured and killed with these "sweets" are sacrifices to Satan (or Samhain). Satanists continue to perform human sacrifices on Halloween. Do you want your child to participate in this? References: 1. Celebrations - The Complete Book of American Holidays, Robt. J.
